Thapsi Hot Gallary

Thapsi Hot Gallary

Tapsi Biography
Tapsi Turtles are a quirky yet charming band from Germany who sound awfully British due in part to the lead vocals of Andreas Fauerbach. While alternative pop/rock is their foundation they mix it up with healthy does of American, Celtic and British folk music, as acoustic guitar, mandolin, and accordion are often their featured instruments. On their first album I Wanna Hear the Sunshine (1992) the saxophone of Judith Kock was surprisingly utilized, giving many of their songs a slight ska edge. Their next album, Get Off, wasn't quite as bouncy as their debut, with the electric guitar of Dirk Grimmer being employed with more frequency. Evidently, the formula for their first two albums was to include one traditional and one cover tune on each record, a pattern that would be tampered with on their next release. While their renditions of "Should I Stay or Should I Go" and "Police on My Back" are enjoyable enough, their own pieces are by far superior. 1997's Nobody Like(s) Us introduces new member Paul Kachur, who is highly adept at mandolin, banjo, and acoustic guitar. He arranged the traditional "Johnny We Hardly Knew You" and contributed some convincing banjo playing as well. "L. Ron's Reel Medley" is comprised of four more traditional tunes featuring Kachur. And interestingly, Tapsi Turtles give "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" a ska treatment. ~ Dave Sleger, All Music Guide

KAREENA

SHAHRUKH KHAN JOINED ARJUN AND KAREENA IN PRESS MEET TO PROMOTE WE ARE FAMILY

Shah Rukh Khan has decided he will be part of every Karan Johar production in some capacity or the other. In I Hate LUV Storys, Shah Rukh did a small voiceover. Unfortunately, he couldn't be accommodated anywhere in We Are Family although SRK was quite adamant to feature somehow.

"Ek photo hi daal do kisi shot mein," he kept urging Karan.

Not one to give up even when his wish has gone way past its fulfilment phase, SRK barged in sportingly at a media meet with Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal and insisted on conducting an interview with the pair...

"Just as a good luck charm," as SRK put it.

On Wednesday afternoon SRK just decided to drop in at the venue of the interview and said, "Even I am part of the family. So I'm joining them to promote the film."

Director Siddharth Malhotra can't get over the magic of the moment. "It is such gestures that make Shah Rukh who he is. It is his ability to make people feel special that makes him the superstar and the King."

Siddharth had entered the media meet when he saw an exceptional bustle at the venue. He jokingly asked what the clamour was about.

"SRK aa gaya kya? I asked sarcastically. Imagine my surprise when someone turned around and said that's precisely what has happened and that SRK was doing an interview with Kareena and Arjun for my film."

One now hears that SRK will make his presence felt in all of Karan Johar's films on one way or another.

Says Karan, "Shah Rukh is just about the most generous human being I know."

Bipasha Basu

Fans want to see me as a strong woman – Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu tried to experiment and essayed the role of a small town, grief-stricken wife in her last film “Aakrosh”. But the star is now back to playing a glam girl in her next film “Dum Maaro Dum” because fans didn’t quite like her as a “weak” woman.

In “Dum Maaro Dum”, Bipasha is cast as Zoey, a hip, strong-minded young woman, aspiring to be an airhostess. She says it was a conscious decision to go in for the role.

“Sometimes it’s very important for an actor to know whether you fit the bill or not. Also, we have very limited kind of offers in the Hindi film industry. So you have to try and do things that your gut tells you to do,” Bipasha told IANS in an interview.

“I did ‘Aakrosh’ and I felt that I was very convincing as a small town, weak girl in the film, but the strong fan following who love the work I do are absolutely not ready to see me doing weak roles. They don’t mind me playing a small town girl as long as it is a strong woman’s character – that’s the kind of feedback I got after ‘Aakrosh’.

“They (fans) thought that I was great in the film, but want to see me as a strong character. Zoey’s character in ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ has that strength,” added the 32-year-old.

Set in Goa, “Dum Maaro Dum” is directed by Rohan Sippy who highlights drug mafias through six characters.

The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rana Daggubati and Prateik Babbar among others and Bipasha says she has no problems working with an ensemble cast.

“I am very glad in Hindi films we are now trying to play parts which are more of characters rather than just heroes and heroines. I am always for multi-starrers because I feel you enjoy watching performances even more when there are more faces to watch,” said Bipasha.

Even though the film is shot in Goa, the filmmakers are not pointing to the state as a major drug-peddling centre.

“It’s a stylish thriller that talks about the drug mafia, the entire drug underbelly that exists. We are not trying to pinpoint and say that it is Goa where all this happens. It’s a fictional story and can be placed anywhere. But it’s just that the feel of Goa goes well with the characters and the characterisations of each of us, so that is why we chose this place (Goa),” clarified Bipasha.

The actress, who has been a part of films like “Raaz”, “Jism”, “Corporate”, “Omkara”, “Race”, “Bachna Ae Haseeno” and “Lamhaa” among others, is all praise for her director with whom she is working for the first time.

“Rohan is very easy to work with. He is a Goan at heart. He roams around in his printed t-shirts and he is very laidback but so clear about his work. He is not like a higher authority on the sets. At times I could even bully him a bit, but he knows how to get what he wants from his actors,” she said.

SHILPA

SHILPA WANTS A FAIR HEARING

Shilpa Shetty, who's distressed after the termination of her IPL team Rajasthan Royals (RR), says she wants a fair and balanced hearing over the matter.

"It's been a very distressing time for us all at RR after all we've put in (passion n time)," Shilpa posted on her Twitter page.

"All we ask is for a fair and balanced hearing on issues raised, given the adverse national and international impact on 'Brand IPL' in the interests of fans and teams."

"Most importantly a transparent process and enquiry..allegation is that our ownership has changed since 2008. Thats Untrue," she said.

"The only change to ownership was the introduction of my husband Raj Kundra, for which we had full BCCI permission and support at the time," she added.

The IPL governing council (GC) terminated the contracts of Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab for violating the franchise pact. While Shilpa and her London-based husband Raj Kundra own Rajasthan Royals, actress Preity Zinta has a stake in Kings XI Punjab.

Shilpa had said at the time that she was "too shocked to react" to the termination.

"This is for all those who want my reaction 'Honestly too shocked to react, just disheartened... cause it's more than just a team for us! Still haven't received the termination, will react after. Need to know the basis of this decision.' In London now," Shilpa tweeted at the time.

ABHISHEK

ABHISHEK HITS BACK AT INSULT

Abhishek Bachchan has hit back at ad-man Prahlad Kakkar's comment that the actor should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for standing strong despite delivering 17 flops.

"I love Prahlad Kakkar, he should be a stand-up comic not an ad-filmmaker. Maybe then someone will take him seriously! This coming from a man who makes commercials with his own son," Abhishek posted on his Twitter page.

Kakkar, who made Abhishek's wife Aishwarya Rai famous as Sanju in a 1993 TV commercial for Pepsi, took a jibe on Abhishek at the Mumbai Film Festival.

Taking a potshot at Abhishek, the adman said: "Abhishek Bachchan has 17 flops in a row and is still going strong. He is unique and should be in the Guinness Book of Records."

In return, Abhishek commented: "Oh ya, Prahlad, I'm already in the Guinness Book of World Records and a very proud son. I hope you give your sons an opportunity to say the same someday."

In February 2009, Abhishek broke the Guinness' world record for maximum public appearances in 12 hours while promoting Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's 'Delhi 6'.
